The struggles of a massage parlor attendant

August 13, 2009 | 07:55AM

I am posting this email that I received a few days ago. I tried my best to correct to grammar and do some basic word-smithing.Still, I think the email exemplifies the struggle of the PSP, struggling to survive, struggling to resolve life’s problems. I am glad that she was able to leave that life and settle down and raise a family. She is lucky. I know of many PSPs who were not so fortunate.I had also decided to edit out some of the names of the massage parlor establishments. I thought long and hard about that and I had decided to edit it out because I figured that the gist is on her struggle, not on the internal practices of these massage parlors.

I read some of your blogs regarding your experience in different health clubs. It’s quite interesting. I just want to share my experience. Maybe you will get something from it. I was one of the massage parlor attendants you were talking about in your blog. I do not know if I met you or not.Well I started early at the age of 14. I was virgin at that time. I needed to work. We have a lot of debts that we need to pay. My mother was a fish vendor during that time. We had no money to buy and sell fish anymore. We had even asked some friends in the wet market to give us something to eat. So i took the job. I didn’t know what kind of work I was going to have. It’s so bad that someone forced himself to get inside of me. After that I stopped working for a month then went back again because i need to live. I did it even it was against my will. I ran away from home and lived by myself. I didn’t want to my friends to know that I was working in a massage parlor. I even become one of the top 10. If you’re asking how i looked, they say i looked like Joyce Jimenez and Heart Evanglista. I am petite. I am only 5 feet and in perfect shape.Well then i stopped working. Then I went back to work again. I’ve been to wilderness, Flight 169, and Skyline and there was one more just a block away from Pegasus. Skyline was the last palace i worked. I worked there for like 6 months. I don’t know if you have been there, but now that place is closed. It was located at the 8 floor in Grand Boulevard hotel. I was there in year2003. You know i don’t want go back to [massage parlor names removed] because, even if you have your period, you need to work there. We have to put some cotton in our vagina to control the bleeding. It’s so gross but we need to work or else we were going to be suspended.I wasn’t the only one minor in that place. We were like 5 or 7.There are a lot of attendants i know that are using drugs. They are really pretty and tall and some were working as massage parlors for 15 years. I only tried marijuana but that’s all.I’m sharing you this because even if I had experienced such a nightmare I still feel I am a better person. I had met a man in that place that accepts me for who i am and never insults me. I am now in California with two kids and happily married. Not all massage parlor attendants are trash. They are just girls who are fighting to live.
