Veteran Smarts
June 16, 2008 | 01:33PMI didn’t want my first post to come after a loss, so yeah, I’m still recovering from that Eddie House scare in the dying seconds of today’s game 5. When will these Celtics ever back down?
Just a few months ago, the consensus around the league wasn’t whether “The Big 3″ would have what it takes to defer to each other for those championship rings. It was whether Danny Ainge could manage to build a supporting cast in time. Not to take any credit away from him, but it didn’t take long for some key vets to line up at his doorstep.
Reggie MillPJ Brown - The guy was being courted by the Spurs, Suns, and Mavs before the season started, but chose to sign for lesser money with the C’s sometime in February instead. Though his value can’t be justified on the score sheet, you can just count how many guys he’s pissed off with his unforgiving defense. Kahit anong gawing gulang, hindi talaga natatawagan ng foul eh.- Sam “I am an Alien” Cassell - Regardless of the guy’s knack for knocking down those cheap foul baiting shots, his joining this team proves to me that the guy was just holding out when he was still with the Clippers. I guess he wanted more than two championships when he chose to bolt for Boston.
- Eddie House - Can he chuck up those shots or what? Regardless of his percentages, he’s proven in the past two games that Ainge knew what he was doing when he used their full mid-level exception on him.
- James Posey - Eddie House V2 (with better defense). The Lakers should keep him away from the lower left side of the basketball court if they’re still hoping to steal 2 straight in Boston.
Just think, that’s 54 years of NBA experience spread across your four key bench players. These guys will lie, cheat, and steal dive for the basketball as long as their banged up bodies can still take it. It makes you wonder why the Lakers are still playing on Wednesday.

ay GAGI! hahaha
[…] Oh yeah. Thanks to Lou Albano for making this possible. Check out my first this past Monday here. […]
