Game notes from Rain or Shine vs San Miguel 11.04.10 at the Araneta Coliseum:

  • Final Score SMB def Rain or Shine 93-77
  • Once again, SMB second unit delivered KO blows in 4th quarter
  • Tugade (16), Cortez (14), Santos (12) and Miranda (11) all scored in double figures off-the-bench!
  • SMB, leading by just one 64-63 in 4th quarter, ignited a merciless break-away
  • Lordy Tugade unloaded all 16 points in a vicious 4th quarter shooting spree
  • Tugade, Denok Miranda and Mike Cortez took turns hitting three-pointers in 4th period blitzkrieg
  • SMB bench erupted after each three-point basket
  • SMB outscored Rain or Shine 35-19 in 4th period
  • Beermen roared to 3rd straight win
  • SMB win spoiled PBA debut of interim Coach Richard Del Rosario
  • Del Rosario took over while Head Coach Caloy Garcia recovers from a vehicular accident
  • Del Rosario became the 1st ever PBA anchorman to coach in a PBA game
  • Garcia was set to coach vs SMB but experienced dizzy spells earlier that day
  • Rain or Shine actually led 39-33 at halftime
  • It was 58-all end of 3rd
  • Then all hell broke loose
  • While SMB sizzled in the 4th, Rain or Shine fizzled in the payoff period
  • Hard to win when Gabe Norwood and Sol Mercado shoot a combined 6/20 FG’s
  • Thing is, Norwood and Mercado do everything else quite well
  • Just zone ‘em: Norwood and Mercado also combined for just 1/7 3-pts
  • Where’s Rob Wainright when you need him? Oh that’s right, he’s in the ABL now.
  • Jervy Cruz looks lost. Maybe he needs some Tiger Power to get his mojo back
  • Jeff Chan provided outside firepower with 14 points (4/9 3-pts)
  • Veteran Eddie Laure provided inside muscle with 11 rebounds
  • Tough start for Rain or Shine. Painters now 0-5
  • Coming up next for Elastopainters: Ginebra, Alaska and Purefoods MH

coach ginebra was 0-6 and still won the championship. maybe RoS could pull off the same thing.
