This April, Nike launches the Nike Air Yeezy shoes, a collaboration between Nike and Grammy-award winner Kanye West. Named after the musician (Kanye’s nick is Yeezy), the new shoes draws on Nike’s rich sporting history and fuses them with original lines, materials, and design elements that reflect West’s unique style. It’s a shared vision of Kanye West and Nike to “create a modern classic that reflects elements of Nike’s sporting past, and remixes them with Nike innovation to deliver a unique shoe.” Read the rest of this entry »
Although, Tony Blair has long left the country, I think it’s still important for anyone who’s heard his talk, share what he has discussed. No one can question Tony Blair’s wit and charisma. The former prime minister is a great speaker who even managed to bring in his good-mannered humor in his talk. I was really hoping that he would go into detail, give more specifics, but the former Prime Minister decided to give things a broad, academic, and insightful take on leadership’s role in the global world we are living in.

CS9 hosted a special premiere of the film “The Watchmen” last Thursday, March 5 in Rockwell Powerplant Mall. I was very lucky to be invited to the event and be the first few people to view the much-anticipated movie. “The Watchmen,” a film based on D.C. comic book by Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons, is said to be one of the most accurate comic book film adaptations. Set in the mid-1980’s the film follows the lives of retired super heroes/vigilantes caught in a web of mysterious killings and an impending nuclear war versus the Soviet Union and The United States. These characters try to solve a conspiracy to kill former heroes and vigilantes like them only to realize that they are part of a bigger evil plan.

For sports followers, reading sports books allows us to develop critical insight on the athletes we watch, the teams we support (or despise), the coaches we admire (or abhor) and the legends we all revere.
Last Wednesday night, I finished reading “The Best American Sports Writing 2008″ edited by William Nack with Glenn Stout as Series Editor. The book is a collection of the best sports feature articles of 2008 found in magazines such as Sports Illustrated, Esquire, The New Yorker, and Men’s Health. I’ve been a huge fan of this series since I received “The Best American Sports Writing 1991″ 17 years ago as pasalubong from the states. Read the rest of this entry »
